Bridger Photonics, Inc. receives $5 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)

Gas Mapping LiDAR™ - Biogenic - w Plumes

Washington, D.C. – Bridger Photonics, Inc. announced an award of $5 million in funding from the DOE’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) Seeding Critical Advances for Leading Energy technologies with Untapped Potential (SCALEUP) program. The funds will be used to further commercialize Gas Mapping LiDAR™, a next-generation methane detection and quantification technology.

To expand its operations, Bridger Photonics will finalize second-generation hardware designs and continue to advance Gas Mapping LiDAR’s predictive algorithm capabilities. The company will also further integrate Gas Mapping LiDAR into client operations through fully automated data processing, job planning and management tools. Gas Mapping LiDAR improves operational efficiency for leak detection and emissions tracking, enables greenhouse gas emissions reductions, and reduces hazard exposures for oil and gas field crews.

“These funds will allow us to meet demand in the oil and gas industry while removing potential bottlenecks to our growth. This selection is a strong endorsement of our capabilities to increase both profitability and sustainability for the oil and gas industry while helping to reduce methane emissions. It’s a rare win-win,” says Dr. Pete Roos, President and CEO of Bridger Photonics.

Founded in Bozeman, MT in 2006, Bridger Photonics, Inc. develops LiDAR technologies for gas mapping and metrology services. In 2018, the company secured a series A investment from world-renowned optics leader Carl Zeiss.
